Wonder what we’re up to at GLAAD?

Be sure to check out GLAAD's Blog each week for updates about our latest work to build support for LGBT equality through news, entertainment and online media.

GLAAD's Senior Media Strategist Tiq Milan and board member Christina Kahrl appeared on CNN's "Reliable Sources" to share best practices for covering transgender stories, particularly in light of the recent salacious and invasive Grantland article, "Dr.V's Magical Putter." Read more here.

GLAAD's Spanish-Language Media Team worked this week with producers of two important shows. "Primer Impacto" on Univision did a story on efforts in California to overturn AB1266, the law that allows people to use the bathroom that most corresponds with their gender identities. GLAAD also worked with the producers of Fusion, the ABS Univision venture. The show "Open Source with Leon Krauze" discussed the topic of transgender actors portraying trans characters. GLAAD placed transgender actress and singer Calpernia Addams on the show and she did a great job.

Actress Goldie Hawn is sending a message of support to LGBT Nigerians after she tweeted a picture of a meeting with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan. After GLAAD educated her about Nigeria's law that imprisons LGBT people for up to 14 years, Hawn stated, "Like too many Americans I had no idea what sort of persecution and discrimination LGBT people in Nigeria are going through. I am shocked, appalled and heartbroken. STOP these atrocities!" Read more here.

The Imago Dei campaign is claiming that everyone, including LGBT people, are created in God's image and should be treated with dignity and respect. GLAAD's Commentator Accountability Project (CAP) made note that the leaders of the campaign have said some of the most demonizing things about LGBT people. Read more here.
