Mary Lambert, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter behind the chorus of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' hit "Same Love," and her own full track extension "She Keeps Me Warm," performed on Z100's Elvis Duran and the Morning Show today before joining Duran for an interview with Good Day NY. Lambert spoke about the impact her music has had, her historic performance at the 56th Grammys with Madonna, Queen Latifah, Macklemore, and Ryan Lewis, which included the live marriages of 33 couples, and how her life has changed. Check out her performance of "She Keeps Me Warm" below.
“I don’t know what I did in my life to be in this position, and have all the incredible things, all of the opportunities and to be on this platform. I get paid to do something that I love so, so deeply and it’s not just like making pop music or even just being on a platform to sing and do what you love. It’s also being able to provide a social impact with music and that’s so incredibly gratifying," Lambert said.
Elvis Duran served as a Spirit Day Ambassador this past October, helping making Spirit Day bigger than ever. Elvis and his crew supported Spirit Day on-air in over 70 markets and also featured a special Spirit Day tee in the show's official store, with all proceeds benefitting GLAAD's work to build support for equality. The tees, which quickly sold out, were also featured in a video Elvis and the Morning Show posted to Facebook and Twitter, expressing their support for Spirit Day and asking others to participate.
"Same Love" continues to inspire others, including pansexual-identified rapper Angel Haze whose remix of the song went viral last fall. Check it out below.
