Deputies at Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office released the sketch of a man that is believed to have assaulted a woman after calling her a gay slur.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office detective bureau is now investigating the assault of a woman who was targeted by her assailants because she is a lesbian.
“We’ve got a detective on it,” Jackson said. “We’re going back in to take a second look and look at every minor detail.”
Deputies reported Tuesday that three men approached the woman about 6 p.m. Monday in the 3000 block of Roundtree Boulevard. The woman had just got off the bus in that area and was walking through a parking lot.
One of the men called out to the woman using a derogatory expletive for a woman as the group approached. He then used a gay slur when asking if she had recently been married on the news.

The men then fled the scene, according to deputies.
Deputies said they believe the incident to be a hate crime.
“This assault is believed to be a hate crime related to the issue of same sex marriage,” a statement read.
