On their visit to New Zealand, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton held a playdate for their son Prince George, to which 10 lucky couples were able to bring their kids. Among them were a pair of gay dads and their daughter.
Jared and Ryan Mullen, along with their daughter Isabella were chosen by parent support group Plunket, which organized this event, reports Queerty.
Jared is originally from Oregon and Ryan is Australian. The couple was chosen as a representative of the growing number of gay, lesbian, and bi parents that Plunket provides services to.
This playdate was George’s first public engagement. All couples sat on the floor while the babies played, including Isabella.
“In a way all we did was talk about babies,” said Jared to the Independent. “The Duke and Duchess were lovely, they were both very relaxed and we chatted about our experiences as first-time parents.”
Both Jared and Ryan were happy to have been able to share this experience and their children with the Duke and Duchess.
