Students share what being a queer person of color means to them (PHOTOS & VIDEO)

Students at Connecticut College have come together to generate a greater understanding of what it means to be a queer person of color. Balancing multiple identities as students, people of color, members of the LGBTQ community, sons, daughters, and all their other roles, members of the college's Queer People of Color student group explained their experiences and outlined their unique stories in a recent Youtube video. Sometimes happy and sometimes heartbreaking, their experiences highlight the complexity of navigating life as queer people of color.

Earlier this year students at Connecticut College created a viral campaign to challenge stereotypes of gender and sexuality. The college has been ranked as one of the top 25 LGBT-friendly schools in the country and partnered with GLAAD for Spirit Day 2013 to support LGBT youth. The Queer People of Color student group was formed in 2012 under the leadership of students Anthony Sis and Karina Hernandez.
