Today is a day of celebration and pride as Marie Claire magazine has named Janet Mock a contributing editor of their well-known publication. Mock, a notable transgender activist and New York Times bestselling author, among other titles, will be contributing to print and online articles and acting as the Marie Claire brand ambassador .
Mock's Marie Claire debut occurred just over three years ago when the magazine published her revolutionary article, in which she came out as transgender. In her inspirational piece, she honestly detailed the events of her life, allowing readers insight into her search for happiness and journey to self-acceptance.
Since then, Mock has made the New York Times Bestseller list with her book "Redefining Realness," in which she offers her enlightening perspective on being young, multicultural, economically challenged, and transgender in America. She has also become an influential public figure and a proud advocate for transgender people.
According to Fishbowl NY, Marie Claire editor Anne Fulenwider speaks highly of Mock: "Her ideas about identity, youth culture, and society's changing norms about beauty illuminate the ever-evolving definition of the modern woman. I look forward to adding her unique point of view to our pages." Similarly, we are excited to see the effects of Mock's experience and influence in the pages of Marie Claire.
