SiriusXM's OutQ will host a special this Monday at 2:00pm to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the groundbreaking 1994 San Francisco season of MTV'S The Real World and honor out HIV-positive cast member Pedro Zamora who tragically passed away from AIDS-related complications hours after the season finale aired. The special, hosted by Xorje Olivares, will include the full audio of the finale episode and an interview with series co-creator Jonathan Murray about the impact of Zamora's story.
Zamora is often credited with humanizing the HIV/AIDS epidemic and was an outspoken advocate. The series also included his relationship with fellow advocate Sean Sasser and the network made history with the broadcast of the couple's commitment ceremony. Zamora was 22-years-old when he passed. In 2008, The Real World's production company Bunim-Murray produced the film Pedro about his life, written by Dustin Lance Black and Paris Barclay.
