Nearly 2 out of 3 LGBT students report being bullied in school. Spirit Day, which took place on October 16, is the largest anti-bullying campaign in the world that supports LGBT youth, and inspired millions to wear purple or ‘go purple’ online in a united stand against bullying and to show their support for LGBT youth. Each year, Spirit Day draws the participation of celebrities, corporations, media outlets, sports leagues, schools, faith institutions, national landmarks, and individuals. Spirit Day was made possible by the generous support of its national partners PepsiCo and Wells Fargo, as well as official partner Comcast-NBCUniversal, and supporting partner American Eagle Outfitters.
GLAAD supports Dr. Miniyar's Pediatrics, P.C. with their event and encourage the people of Rome, GA and surrounding areas to attend and show your support in a stand against bullying. More information abouut the vigil and about Dr. Miniyar's Pediatrics can be found on their Facebook page.
