Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBT-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.
1) From acclaimed director Peter Strickland (Berberian Sound Studio), The Duke of Burgundyopens in select theaters on January 23rd. The film chronicles the relationship between lovers Cynthia (Sidse Babett Knudsen) and Evelyn (Chiara D'Anna) and presents a visually engrossing look at the power dynamics at play in their May-December relationship. 2) Eric Schaffer's Boy Meets Girl tells the coming-of-age story of two twenty-somethings living in Kentucky: Robby (Michael Welch, Twilight) and his best friend from childhood Ricky (Michelle Hendley), a transgender woman. When Ricky meets beautiful, young debutante Francesca, her relationship with Robby becomes complicated as he is forced to face his true feelings for Ricky. Boy Meets Girl opens with a limited release in the following cities: New York – February 6th; San Diego, Washington D.C., and Brattleboro (VT) – February 13th; Los Angeles – February 27th. 3) Starting on March 6, 2015, Netflix will unveil all 13 episodes of its original series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Helmed by 30 Rock and SNL's Tina Fey, the show follows Kimmy (Ellie Kemper, The Office), who, after living in a cult for 15 years, begins her life anew in New York City. In addition to Kemper, the show also features 30 Rock's Jane Krakowski and out singer/actor Titus Burgess (pictured with Kemper above) as Kimmy's gay roommate who works as a performer in Times Square. 4) CBS's multiple Emmy-winning The Amazing Race returns with a new couples-only season on February 25th. One of the couples competing in the show is Jonathan Knight, of New Kids on the Block fame, and his boyfriend Harley Rodriguez, a boot camp trainer. The show also features five "blind date" teams, including one gay couple, as they embark across the world with their producer-picked partners. After its February 25th premiere, The Amazing Race moves back to its regular Friday/8:00 pm timeslot on February 27th.
5) A campaign has been started to save the BBC's gay zombie series In the Flesh from the brink of cancellation. Supporters of the BAFTA-winning show began the hashtag campaign #SaveInTheFlesh as well as a Change.org petition that hopes to find In the Flesh a new home on an alternative distribution platform. In the Flesh was previously nominated for a GLAAD Media Award.
6) Kristen Merlin, out singer-songwriter and semi-finalist on the sixth season of NBC's The Voice, has released her EP Boomerang this week. A self-taught guitarist and primarily country performer, Merlin describes her new album as having a "hip-hop country kinda feel."

8) Chicago-based filmmaker Mike Krumlauf is raising funds for his second feature-length film Written Images, a coming-of-age story about two gay men in Chicago. The experimental film explores the relationship between Steven and Nick as they struggle to decide on what they want from their lives and from each other.
