The complete first season of Amazon's Golden Globe-winning original series Transparent will stream for free for 24 hours starting tomorrow, Saturday, January 24. The company will also offer a discounted subscription to their Prime service. Transparent was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award in Outstanding Comedy Series this week, check out the full list of nominees here.
One of the first original series from online content provider Amazon, Transparent tells the story of a trans woman, Maura (Jeffrey Tambor), coming out to her family late in life. Series creator Jill Soloway dedicated her acceptance of the series Golden Globe award to trans teen Leelah Alcorn, whose recent death and social media messages have gained national media attention. Tambor also took home a Golden Globe in Lead Actor-TV Comedy for his portrayal of Maura. Transparent also includes several other lesbian, bisexual, and transgender characters, including a few played by trans actors such as Alexandra Billings and Ian Harvie.
