The 40 years of pride conference is scheduled to bring together a diverse group of LGBT leaders from around the globe this summer.
Leaders will gather to "inspire and strengthen each other, build skills and networks, and celebrate 40 years of LGBTQ progress in Israel." The organizers write, "The conference will represent dozens of nations and communities, with an array of religious and secular practices, people of many races, ethnicities, sexual orientations and gender identities."
Some of the areas to be discussed include:
- The role of religion and faith in the LGBT movement
- LGBT legal advocacy
- The struggle for transgender equality and economic empowerment
- Helping our communities and education systems be better for LGBT youth
- What can be learned from the marriage equality movement in the United States
